The one thing what bothers me in dying dragon is rather happy and near-fairytale ending. I'd imagine death of such majestatic creature as dragon should be solemn and dramatic, just as major part of this masterpiece was. Sure, death for the one dying is surely a soothing moment, after all this misery, but for us, living ones it's rather sad moment and full of reverie.
Nevertheless, i gave 6/6 due to humongous load of nostalgia when i stumbled upon this piece on CDA 'scena' package i believe. Then my HDD died and CD was long lost in chaos of moving. Ever since i've remembered how emotional this song was, so my rating may be biased especially when i found it on compilation of ASM96's gems. |

Moduł stworzony 31 października 1992 roku, odzyskany w roku 2024 z dyskietki roboczej.
Tak, brzmi jak moduł z demo "Enigma". Chyba wszyscy wtedy byli pod wrażeniem tej muzyki i chcieli odtworzyć charakterystyczne tremolo na komendach A, no każdy tak miał. 8^)
Słychać też fascynację twórczością J. M. Jarre'a. Też typowe… |

And kudos to VLC and OpenMPT for not falling over.
8bitbubsy's FTII clone also handles it quite well, discarding the out-of-bound channels and samples and at least plays "something"

A very bizarre, very lossy, yet very inefficient way to compress a mono signal.
The algorithm splits an audio sample to short samples (acoustic tokens) of fixed length and then performs a truncated singular value decomposition (SVD). The audio is reassembled from acoustic tokens to patterns using very a lossy 8-bit volume resolution and rather a small number of channels.
As the number of both channels and samples is very limited, it sounds pretty bad. Moreover, the sound quality only degrades with increasing variance through signal duration.
Though, I couldn't resist shitposting.
Warning: severe XM hacks: 96 channels, a lot of samples. OpenMPT or VLC media player can handle that. |
